Your documents are encrypted on your device before being uploaded, meaning we never have access to your unencrypted data. Each contact receives a unique encryption key via email that only works for the documents you've assigned to them.

Don't worry - we have multiple safeguards. First, we'll send you reminders via email and push notifications. If you still don't respond, your grace period begins. This is a waiting period (default 7 days, customizable up to 30 days on Premium) before anything happens. During this time, you'll receive more urgent notifications. Only after the grace period ends without a check-in will your documents be delivered.

No! If you install the mobile app, check-ins are fully automatic. On Android, the app detects phone usage — if you've touched your phone in the last 24 hours, that counts as proof of life. On iOS, we send silent notifications that your phone acknowledges automatically. You only need to check in manually if you don't have the mobile app installed, and even then, we'll send you email reminders with a one-click check-in link.

Yes! You have complete control. When you upload a document, you can assign it to specific contacts. Each contact will only be able to access and decrypt the documents you've specifically shared with them. You can also change these assignments at any time.

When the time comes, your contacts receive an email with a unique encryption key and a link to access their documents. Using this key (which is only sent once via email and never stored on our servers), they can decrypt and download the documents you shared with them. No account is needed to access shared documents.

Yes! We have apps for both iOS and Android. With the app installed, your status is updated automatically — you don't need to open the app or do anything. On Android, the app detects that you're using your phone (with your permission) and checks in for you. On iOS, silent push notifications confirm your device is active. Of course, you can also manage documents, contacts, and check in manually from the app.

No. AliveGuardian is not a notary service and does not provide legal certification or authentication of documents. We are a secure storage and delivery service - we store your encrypted documents and deliver them to your designated contacts when you stop checking in. If you need an official, legally compliant notary service, please consult qualified notary services in your country.
